Nowadays an Aztec sun tattoo can mean eternal life.

Winged snake-god was honored by both Aztec and Maya. Being the god of creation, fertility and weather, he was also a symbol of ancient wisdom. Tattoo designs with his image are among the most popular Aztec tattoos because winged snake-god played the main role in art, religion and culture in most of Latin America countries for more than two thousands years.

Beside tattoos connected with gods, there were also tattoo designs that revealed a social status of their owners and the place in the tribal hierarchy. Aztec tattoo designs showed successes and achievements in the life. The choice of place for tattoo design also was not accidental. Mostly often Aztec tattoos were made an arms and chest.

Other popular symbols in Aztec culture were eagles, warriors, princesses and Aztec calendar. Moon and stars tattoos that were widely spread, are still extremely popular and not only in Latin America.
